Mr. Cheng Siwei

Former Vice-Chairman of the 10^th NPC Standing Committee, Chairman of the China Democratic National Construction Association

Mr. Cheng Siwei is the former Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of the People's Republic of China. He is currently Dean of the School of Management of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of the Association of the Chinese Soft Science Research, Chairman of the editorial board of Management Review, the Honorary Chairman of China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, and chief editor of a number of academic journals. Mr. Cheng is also an Honorary Professor of the Faculty of Business Administration of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Prior to his current positions, Mr. Cheng was an academic advisor to the World Bank and the director of the Department of Management Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published 28 academic books in China and Europe, and over 120 articles in various academic journals.

Throughout his career, Mr. Cheng has worked for various units of the Ministry of Chemical Industry and the Ministry of Petroleum and Chemical Industries, including Chief Engineer of the Science and Technology Bureau, Vice-President and Chief Engineer of the Scientific and Technical Research Institute, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Chemical Industry, and Vice-Minister of Chemical Industry. Mr. Cheng was a member of the Seventh and Eighth National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and member of the Standing Committee of the Eighth CPPCC National Committee.
